The Design Bank is pleased to be a Friend of STEM in supporting the Bright House Bright Ideas STEM for Youth Initiative. This entrepreneurial stem competition encourages youth to develop new ideas that can make their own life, community or world even better using Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to make their idea happen.
Students may compete as individuals or as part of a team of two. To learn more and enter the competition, visit www.brighthouse.com/brightideas. We encourage you to work with high school students ages 14-19 on their next Bright Idea that can make a difference and change the world!
The local Indiana division is hosting a Mentoring Day on December 10th, from 4-7pm at Bright House Networks (3030 Roosevelt Ave, Indianapolis IN 46218). During this event, we will have mentors that are experts in business and marketing available for students to pitch their idea.
Mentors are there to provide great tips and tricks on how to perfect presentation skills and also provide constructive feedback on their idea. At 6:30pm, there will also be a showing of last year’s final competition in Orlando. We will watch last year’s National winner’s pitch, as well as the our local Indiana Division’s pitch. During this time, there will be a light dinner served (sandwiches, chips, cookies).
We encourage students to start creating their power point presentation (no more than 10 slides) for the competition. Also, entries are scored on the following criteria: Creativity 30%, Feasibility 40% and Usefulness 30%.
